'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the dramatic final moments of his team's epic comeback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear after the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative shot from 25 yards, and the defender quickly slammed home the deflection before charging toward the crowd to revel in the moment, with supporters mobbing the players.

Remarkable Recovery

The victory completed an incredible turnaround given Swansea had trailed 2-0 deep into the latter period. Amid the celebrations, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a fan shouting out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win booked a next round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. The athletic midfielder had a prime vantage point when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's first-time shot from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've given it to him for having a go from that distance," commented Galbraith, who started in midfield before switching to right flank after Orient changed formation. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he swapped shirts, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who paid tribute to the way his former team approached the match.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the basics and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," he explains. "It seems as if they always find their target and they know how to control and slow down a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball through a line without you even seeing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It requires a strong mentality and focus just to keep pace."

Swansea Move

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a fans' favourite across multiple campaigns at Leyton Orient and has swiftly achieved similar status in Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with his former manager, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in senior football on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford City, before he permanently left his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was likely a bit naive going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say youth team games is very different. Sometimes it appears play is circulated without real physicality. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for club and country, shining for Northern Ireland, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including home and away games against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he controls possession and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This represents an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside Belfast, who used to see his parent, the elder Galbraith, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

The player's single match for Manchester United came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was sealed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "This represented a extended travel and it was freezing," he says, grinning. "The preceding week, the academy prospects trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I knew I wouldn't break through at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I believed I had to take a different path, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another progress toward getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a small coach driven by club employees, the transport team, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"It's myself a teammate, Ronald, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has started driving. It's nice to socialize with the teammates but I'm planning to be the following person to drive independently and driving. His teammate enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Supporter Connections

While playing for Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with fans on London's Central line after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
